Elaine offers 1:1 Idea consultation, a unique 1:1 mentoring and support service for individuals or groups wishing to set up a social enterprise around exploring ideas and helping to build confidence around these ideas.
Elaine has 24 years’ experience in the social enterprise sector, having set up Six Mary’s Place Guesthouse in Stockbridge Edinburgh, the first social firm of its kind in Europe. Elaine managed the Guesthouse, which offered employment to people suffering from severe and enduring mental health problems within a commercial business setting, for 10 years. She travelled to other areas of Europe supporting organisations who wished to set up something similar. She received an award in 2004 from the then First Minister for the achieving 4 stars with the Scottish Tourist Board and winning ‘Scotland the Best’ customer care award. Following this, Elaine worked with Forth Sector Edinburgh to support 5 other social firms to set up in the city. Previous experience also includes being General Manager of the 65 bedroom Learmonth Hotel Edinburgh for three years.
