Organisation of the Month
In the UK more than 35,000 dedicated Royal Voluntary Service community volunteers deliver services that help older people live the life they want to. They make a massive difference within their communities and are committed to helping older people live independent and fulfilled lives. Whether it’s taking an older person to the shops, getting them to a GP appointment or even walking their dog – you can make a big difference that is appreciated and valued.
Whether you can spare a few hours once a week or fortnight or can give a couple of days each month we will have an opportunity for you.
In our largely rural area many older people find it difficult to get to essential appointments and to the shops for daily necessities. You have probably given a family member or a neighbour a lift to the doctors or been a good neighbour to an older person near you. That is what our volunteers do, helping your neighbours and people without neighbours or friends nearby. We are especially in need of drivers in the Dunbar and North Berwick areas, but if you live somewhere else or don’t drive there are still plenty of people who need your help.
Alternatively, if you would like to support our work from behind the scenes then we have opportunities for fundraisers, speakers, trainers, recruiters and many more roles to suit your skills.
Why not be part of making sure that older people of East Lothian get the support they need and want. It couldn’t be easier to volunteer. See the Royal Voluntary Service opportunities below:
