To help people maintain independence and dignity in their homes and communities particularly in later life.
Getting to and from medical appointments, to the shops or even out to visit friends or to the hairdresser are all essential parts of life that we tend to take for granted. However, as we get older it can get harder to do these things, especially if we can no longer drive. We live in a rural area, where distances to hospital or other appointments can make taxi’s too expensive and public transport difficult, if not impossible.
If you can spare a few hours a week, you could join our friendly team of volunteer drivers. Our volunteers provide much more than a taxi service. Royal Voluntary Service drivers assist clients into their appointment, wait with them if required, and then deliver them safely home. Friendly support and maybe a cup of tea after an upsetting medical appointment can make what would be stressful and tiring, so much easier. If you think you can help, please get in touch.
