Queen Margaret University Occupational Therapy students – Service learning

The BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy programme are looking for organisations in East Lothian to host level 1 occupational therapy students on ‘Service learning’.  Service learning involves students ‘giving’ service to the community.  In pairs/ small groups they will undertake service through placement in a community setting.  When they return to university they will participate in written and verbal structured reflections activities which will enhance their learning.  Service learning is not assessed/ graded.

The dates allocated for service learning this year are:

26th October

2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd and 30th November – all Wednesdays.

Students can come for a half or whole day, potentially for 2 whole days dependant on the needs of your service and student numbers.  If you think your organisation would be able to host students in pairs or small groups please contact Joanna Beveridge, Lecturer in Occupational therapy on or 0131 474 0000.
